AI is an enhancement to the reader—not a condition for reading, following a source, or opening the original article.
Requested, not automatic
The controlled beta creates a summary only after an eligible signed-in reader requests one and the feature, quota, source policy, and safety checks all allow it. Production access stays off until the recorded launch gates pass.
The source stays visible
A summary is always paired with authoritative source metadata and an original-article link. Model output never becomes the source of attribution.
Fail closed, keep reading
Ambiguous or unsafe results are withheld. Provider, safety, or budget failures do not break the ordinary feed reader.
